Post: Junior Research Fellow
Position 1:
Understanding Biodiversity patterns and process under changing resource use and
climatic scenario in the Indian Himalaya- Ecological and Social Implications
(Project 7)
Position: Junior
Research Fellow (01) @Rs
12,000/- (Fixed Per Month) + HRA as per Institute norms; @ Rs 16,000/- (Fixed
Per Month) + HRA for NET qualified persons (as per norms)
Qualification(Essential): First
class Masters degree in Botany/Zoology/ Forestry/Ecology/ Life Sciences/
Biological or Environmental Science, etc with good academic records
Desirable: Biodiversity
conservation studies and trekking experience in mountains
Nature of duties/Project: Conduct
intensive field research and maintain biodiversity data bases of the
Khangchendzonga Biosphere Reserve (Sikkim)
Position 2: Promoting
conservation and sustainable utilization of Himalayan biodiversity elements
using biotechnological and physiological approaches (Project 8)
Position: Junior

Nature of duties/Project: Conventional
propagation & maintenance/establish ment of arboretum, nurseries; Plant
population studies, etc in field/ organize training/ awareness on biodiversity
conservation
Position 3: Promoting
conservation and sustainable utilization of Himalayan biodiversity elements
using biotechnological and physiological approaches (Project 8)
Position: Junior

Nature of duties/Project: •
To conduct survey and establish nursery at field sites.
• Plant propagation (by tissue culture & conventional methods) & field
establishment.
Position 4: Promoting
conservation and sustainable utilization of Himalayan biodiversity elements
using biotechnological and physiological approaches: "Ecophysiological
responses of selected wild fruit tree species of Sikkim Himalaya to soil water
content"(Project 8)
Position: Junior

Nature of duties/Project: The
work involves both field and laboratory based physiological, biochemical and growth
studies.

P.S.: Arrangement on 24.03.2014, for travel
between ‘Main Taxi Stand’ (Near Gurudwara) Gangtok-Sikkim and the interview
venue (Sikkim Unit, campus Pangthang) shall be made by the institute.
Interested candidates may board in the institute vehicle between 9 am to 10 am
at main Taxi Stand Upper Floor, Gangtok.
